The Siege of Minneapolis
In December of 2025, the Department of Homeland Security launched Operation Metro Surge, a hardline immigration enforcement operation in Minneapolis led by Border Patrol Commander Greg Bovino.
Encounters between federal agents and local residents quickly turned violent. By mid-January 2026, two civilians were dead, another wounded by gunfire. Mass protests began, and locals began organizing mutual aid and resistance networks, eventually pushing much of the surge of militarized agents out of the city and leading to the firing of both Bovino and DHS Secretary Kristi Noem.
